No! Kidding! Choir is a children’s gospel choir founded by Janice Hopkins
in 1985.   This program is a youth outreach music ministry of Ainsworth
Community Christian Church Ministries.  NKC started out as a simple
request to  help a group of 9 African-American girls prepare for their
school's talent show.   After the talent show, what resulted was a miracle
of God.  The children showed a great interest to continue meeting even
though there was not a clear vision for this effort.   More children joined
and the choir grew.  Shortly thereafter, God planted a name for the
group in Janice’s heart and NKC was given birth!

No! Kidding! Choir continued to have scheduled rehearsals and
performances.   In 1989, No! Kidding! Choir performed their first concert
outside of the Portland area.   In 1993, the choir went on their first
extended tour to Berkeley, California and the rest is history.   In 1999
Harry (Spank) Hopkins, Janice's husband, came aboard as the music
director.   Jacqueline Harry, Janice's sister, recently became choir director
for this wonderful program.  Over the years, the program incorporated
a wonderful music team of talented adults offering excellent music
support and mentorship!   

NKC has evolved into a ministry that offers children (ages 4 -14)
an opportunity to experience the reading, writing, and arithmetic
of Salvation - the fundamentals.  Through music we  witness God's
everlasting love to all people, and that His redemptive act of
unfailing love can transform any life.
